Tom...

...Turkey standing guard by the fireplace...not sure who decided he's named Tom, but I kinda like this most recent addition to our Thanksgiving decor.

...and because of him I bought a couple more fowl from the Garden Fun website...
...a pheasant...

...and a quail...love the realistic look of these metal birds.

Had our first hard frost last night...
...can't really see it in that pic but everything was coated with frost this morning as I did my usual walk around the premises routine.

While I was wandering I came across Mr. Squirrel hiding in the leaves of the tree on the corner of our house:

...and Mr. Cardinal hopping from limb to limb in the tree in our front yard:
Fall has a beauty all its own.

Had a gas line run to our Malm fireplace in the family room today:
Did so primarily for heat since our family room is the coldest room in the house in the winter...but the flame pattern looks good when it's on so that's a bonus.

It's a vent free log set with a thermostat so it comes on and goes off automatically...should be just what we need for the cold weather months.

Last night we watched "Indignation" for movie night...
...an interesing but ultimately depressing movie...it's well acted and logical but not escapist fare.

Tonight Karen wanted to see "When Harry Met Sally" again...normally our New Year's Eve movie, but I guess we'll switch to "Sleepless In Seattle" come Dec. 31 because tonight we did indeed enjoy WHMS.
Crystal had a knack for making funny "relational" movies that also made a serious point...WHMS, Forget Paris, even truly light fare like City Slickers were all both hilarious and insightful...makes them a joy to watch.

Notions duty today...system issues to deal with between 10 am and 2 pm...hopefully all will be well when everything is back up and running again.

For now, it's time to enjoy the start of another beautiful Sunday...

later, mcm fans...
