You Know It's A Small Town Paper...

...when the front page picture features cows...

That's all the news from home in Karen's home town of Rogers City...and that's why we're living down here.

A hopeful sign of spring...
...two lonely tulips by our front gate...but aren't they beautiful?

Got out on the links for the first time this year...heck, for the first time in 20+ years...
...the course was pretty, my play was ugly...never could hit a driver worth beans and that hasn't changed...about the only club I seem to understand is my mashie...did pretty well with that...and I two and three putted...
...and this was one of my two putt greens.

But in spite of my highly questionable play, I did have fun and plan to go again...bound and determined to master my spoon wood...and can't put too much on my first time out in over two decades...I'll give it a little while because I do enjoy swinging my hickory sticks.

One of my goals here - besides just having some fun with this - is to get to the point where I won't embarrass #4 son when we go golfing this summer.

Shipped a proof copy of On Being A Man...
...to a pastor friend...he should get it sometime this coming week and has promised to rip the theology to shreds where appropriate.  Scripture says we should "study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)...want to be sure I've done that in this book, and if not, to change it accordingly.

Making progress on the upcoming move...we've got way too much stuff, but we're attacking the clutter with the goal of downsizing.  This will be the first time either of us have moved into a home with an actual plan for how we're going to decorate / furnish each room.  We're not going to be slaves to the mid century modern motif, but we're not going to slapdash things together, either.

There will be a sense of where things should be to achieve the overall effect we want for this home, and that means a lot of "stuff" has to go.  Won't exactly be minimalist, but it will be well thought out...and same will hold true for what we do in the courtyard and in the backyard over the next few years.

Might even include the Hare coat of arms outside on the circular stone wall where the fireplace is...
Now why in the world would we do that?

Later, mcm fans...
