Turkeys 1...

...Smokey 0...as the next two pictures show...here he thinks he's going to give them his "King Of The Jungle" stare and strike fear into their fowl hearts...
...but nothin' doin', and after a brief turkey confab they start to move in...
...and here the much larger prey have become the predators as Smokey decides the better part of wisdom is to vamoose and pick on someone his own size...

Stumbled onto a really cool mid century modern blog this week: Hepcats Haven

If you're a mid century modern fan, you should check it out...apparently catching them at a transition time in their lives, but they have a lot of way cool stuff, mostly mid century...lots of kitschy collectibles.

So I tried a new golf course this morning...the Pheasant Run Golf Club in Borculo...
Only 9 miles from home and it's a thousand yards longer than Sand Creek, which I really like...takes longer to play, which means I get to swing my hickories a few more times...

...and I did ok today...I'm not very good, but occasionally I do hit good shots...and it's really enjoyable to make a strong, smooth stroke and watch the ball fly straight and long down the middle of the fairway.

Not quite as much fun to top one or hit it fat but oh well.  Golf is like any other discipline...to be really good requires natural ability and lots of practice.

I don't have much natural ability for golf, and I certainly don't have much time to practice..so I have to simply accept that reality and find enjoyment in the activity.

The younger version of me was never able to do that...
...but the current revision has either been improved or else modified to accept lower expectations...not sure which of those it is, but either way I'm having lots of fun swinging my hickories and chasing little white balls around the countryside.
This weekend one of our goals is start moving things out of this home that don't belong here.  We just have too much stuff, and we need to deal with that reality.

We own the home; it doesn't own us...but it's so unique we do feel a responsibility to respect its roots and stay close to its mid century modern vibe.

Can you say "garage sale"?  Everything must go!  No reasonable offer refused!
...looking forward to the end of the chaos sometime before the end of the year...

until then...

later, mcm fans...
