Early Morning...

...mists...blanketing the fairways...I guess that's why they make yellow golf balls.

Worked for me, anyway...hit a pretty decent drive with my mid iron to start my round, and even though I lost sight of it in the mist, I was able to find it - in the fairway, no less - about 150 yards down the line.

And I should probably never golf again bc it can only go downhill from here...after double bogeys on 1 and 2 and a bogey on 3, I actually parred 4, 5 and 6, and bogeyed 7, 8 and 9.

I don't usually keep score bc I can't count that high on my 9 fingers and 10 toes, but I did keep track today when the marvel on 4 occurred...and I ended up with a 44...1 better than bogey golf.

I expect this to be certified as a bona fide miracle by someone, somewhere later this afternoon.

Saw this spectacular lake Michigan scene on one of the local weather broadcasts the other day:
I love that shot...the seagull in the foreground, the sail in the middle illuminated by the setting sun and the requisite lighthouse on the right...gorgeous.

Summer is rapidly retreating, but I have to admit I love early and mid-fall weather, especially when it's sunny and crisp...
...like it was yesterday when I snapped this pic of Old Glory waving proudly in front of our home.

Even saw a touch of red on some maple trees as I was leaving the links yesterday...beautiful...and am doing my best to embrace each day and truly enjoy the here and now, bc I know what's coming down the pike all too soon...
That's downtown Holland in the winter, and as Sam The Snowman shivers...

...in the 1965 Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer television special, "Tell me when it's over..."

I guess I don't understand the evolution of taste buds...
...bc I used to detest all the food and drink pictured in the above, and today I love them...that's a BLT sandwich with crispy bacon, thin sliced tomatoes, fresh lettuce, miracle whip and pepper on buttered toast...and the harmless V8 juice drink has been magically transformed into a delicious bloody mary...V8 over ice with Tito's handmade vodka, salt, pepper and tabasco sauce...yum yum...

Progress on the house reno...measuring for upper kitchen cupboards tomorrow, to be installed the first week in October...and #1 grandson made a little progress on the living room ceiling yesterday:
Exposed beams and whitewashed tongue and groove boards...hoping to give the living room some verticality and color...we'll know more - as in whether we like it or not - once he makes a little more progress this coming week.

Danny Kaye once said, Life is a great big canvas and you should splash as much paint on it as you can.

It's a fabulous sunny fall day out there, and I'm going to go splash some paint on it.

later, mcm fans...
