Welcome To...

...Lover's Lagoon...there is actual progress on the courtyard renovation project.

Karen has been hard at work designing and creating the new look.
Love all the different colors, contours and textures she used...makes it visually very interesting...
...and perhaps best of all is what she did with our "problem area".

For two years we couldn't figure out what to do with the little corner that at one time had been a leaky, leaf collecting pond.

Now it's a gorgeous rock garden that beautifully complements all the stone and glass of our home.

Gotta admit, the woman is a creative genius and we finally have the welcoming courtyard this home needed.

Bravo, my dear!  Well done.
In the "money grows wings" department, we've been trying to get quotes on having our roof replaced...
...and boy is it expensive...that's what we get for having a curved, flat roof that's 58 / 20 years old...because we actually have 2 roofs on this home...the original asphalt and gravel one from 1961, and a rubberized roof laid on top of that around 1999.

Both of them need to be removed and a new one put on...all I can say is...
Well, as far as "the last fire of the season" goes...
...turns out I was very, very wrong...it's May 19th and we're still "enjoying" lovely fires in the fireplace in the evenings.

Hello, summer?  Don't be shy...any time now will be fine...
No hickory golf this weekend...
...too wet both days to get out on the links...annoying...
New title for my next novella...
...it's now "7 Fridays"...and I'm just getting started on writing...only 2,500 words into it but starting to get a feel for how I'll navigate the waters here.
Karen and I were out and about yesterday and stopped at an antique shop where I spotted this...
...an 8' Brunswick "Mach 1" pool table, circa 1969...love the sleek, angled lines of this uber cool looking table...don't have a place for it, but if I did...

Also spotted this guy...
...and whaddya know?  He followed us home.

Sir Kitschalot is currently standing guard by our fireplace...may end up out in the bonus room eventually, but for now...
And finally in the diet news department...there is no news because there is mercifully no more diet...
...and both Red Auerbach and I are thrilled...now I just have to keep it at or under 208...wish me luck...
That dear readers wraps up another excitin' edition of The Atomic Monster Cafe.

As always it has been our tireless task but highest joy to bring you the very best in recycled mind candy, made from only the finest leftover guano droppings from the rare Andalusian vampire bat...

You're welcome.

later, mcm fans...
