It's Way Too Early...

...for writer's block...but my great start on Chrysalis has dissipated like a morning fog under a hot sun...

It's not really writer's block...I'm just having second thoughts about where I want to take this story...2,000 words into it and I'm struggling with some details and how I want to relate them...hoping a weekend of reflection will help me resolve this...
...at least I hope it's temporary.
But speaking of morning fog...
...that was my view on the links today when I started.

Thankfully this was a day when I was hitting 'em straight most of the time...so I just counted off 150 yards or so and voila, yellow golf ball lying in the fairway.
Played pretty well...bogey golf through 8, with only 1 double bogey, offset by a par...then stumbled on 9 and slunk off the course after carding a 5 on the short par 3.

Oh well...it was a gorgeous morning by the time I was headed home...
...gotta love that summer sunshine.
Karen wanted to hit the sidewalk sales in Saugatuck, which turned out to be a very enjoyable afternoon...
...where we saw this hopeful sign posted by an optimistic vendor:
...hope springs eternal, I guess.

Also spotted this very cool fixture in one of the stores...
...an original, rusted out 1952 Chevy truck grille repurposed as a light...not for sale fortunately, otherwise I'd probably be the proud owner of...
In sad news, I'm sorry to report the discontinuation of the Rodger's Ramblings section of this blog...
...as Rodger is no longer doing the long haul trucking thang...

His new gig is...w a i t  for it...
...up in Alaska!

That's his son Randy on the left and his daughter Traci in the middle...they accompanied him on the long drive up...
...but Traci headed south again...so it's just Rodger and Randy still there...
...well, Rodger, Randy and friends.

Rog hopes to be driving truck up on the north slope this winter, and as I get reports from life up there I'll share them with you.

Gonna hafta get a new title, though...Nanook of the North is taken, but Rodger of the North Slope is still available...
In the Random Sightings department...
spotted these hooligans in a vintage Impala...if there's anyone under 60 in that car I'll eat my hat...

is that a gardenia in a whisky bottle?  Karen must be hitting the sauce again...

that's the whisky gardenia bush in our rock garden...

we've been here 2 years and this is the first chipmunk we've seen...

apparently it's not too early to prepare for All Hallow's E'en...looks like Sir Kitschalot may be haunted this year...
#4 son is coming over to finish up resurfacing the back patio steps - final touches on the patio project he did for us earlier - so it's time to get after it.

All of us here at the Atomic Monster Cafe...
...hope you've enjoyed this leisurely stroll through intellectual mediocrity on your way to whatever thrillin' events are next in your life.

later, mcm fans...
