The Return...

...of the big blue tank...it's been two years since it "graced" our backyard...but the recent extended heat wave forced our hand.

At least this year we got Big Blue to be more or less level, not listing heavily to starboard...

...and this time we've dressed him up a bit...

...making him part of the night time fun.

It may seem like lipstick on a pig, but when it's 92 degrees in the broiling sun, he serves a useful purpose adequately if not elegantly.

We'll see what happens next year with the in-ground pool department, but for now...

...surf's up dude...

In related news...

...all that digging in the dirt in the summer heat to get Big Blue situated definitely reignited my weight loss program.

Lost 6 pounds in 5 days, thus the Crying / Angry man update shows me sitting at 194 pounds.

190 would be better, but we'll see.  There were several weeks there when I was stuck around 200, so...

Recently had to send my "new" mid-iron away to have the head fixed...it was working its way loose after several rounds, so Gary Eley and his Hickory Golf Workshop  came to the rescue.

Just got it back today...

...looking brand new and all fixed up again.  Gary does excellent work for very reasonable prices.  I highly recommend him!

Practiced with it today and gonna put it through its paces tomorrow on the links.

Can't wait...

Headed into the July 4th weekend in a couple of days when we'll celebrate our country's 244th birthday with #5 son and his wife, so more to come then.

For now, a quick spin around the block...
a friend from work is relaxing at his family's cottage up north..,

...and he's kind enough to send pics of his beautiful surroundings...

...he does this to torture me

Karen found that leaf sculpture for - wait for it - $3.  currently gracing the outside wall of our bonus room

Karen and I were sitting on the patio when Rocky decided to help himself to what was left of the cat food

new fire bowl feature for the patio

Looking forward to the July 4th holiday...for now...

later, mcm fans...
