Hit For The Cycle...

1 putt for birdie

...with my hickories today...well, sort of.

I suppose "the cycle" in pro golf would be "hole in one, eagle, birdie, par", and I definitely did NOT do that...

...but in my "modicum of talent, hickory golf" world "the cycle" today was a birdie on 3, a par on 9, a bogey on 7, and double bogey for most of the other holes...

...and I was happy with that.

Hit 'em straight, kept it in the fairways and ever since Calamity Jane...
Sir Kitschalot practicing with Calamity Jane

...and I buried the hatchet, I've putted pretty well.

warning: rough road ahead

Great way to start a 3 day summer weekend...and after this one I'm down to only 3 of those left...yikes...

Speaking of our waning summer...
no idea who these people are

...in late June we had 15 and a half hours of daylight...now we're down to less than 14 hours...13 hours and 55 minutes to be exact.

So unless you're reading this poolside or lying on a beach somewhere...

...you need to step away from the computer and get outside.
not positive what's happening here but they appear to be standing on stilts...

Ok, so you don't have to put on evening wear and go hickory golfing...but soak up some of that vitamin D and enjoy the great outdoors...

I have no idea what he's doing but at least it's outside

...while you still can.

See you there.

While we're waiting for PBS to pick up seasons 6 and 7 of Badehotellet...

...we decided to watch an Italian series, "Imperial Grand Hotel"...

...a mildly interesting soap opera, set in the Schnalsthal valley in Italy in 1905.

Won't bore you with the plot, but the scenery, costumes and sets are all gorgeous.

It's basically a knock off of a knock off: the Spanish series "Gran Hotel", which was widely known as the "Spanish Downton Abbey"...

...and you can definitely see that "upstairs / downstairs" element in this series.

It ran for 12 episodes in 2015 and turned out to be a one season deal...something the cast and producers did not expect.

How, you ask, do I know their cancellation after season 1 took them by surprise?

Simple...episode 12 ended with all kinds of mysteries hanging in the crisp mountain air, with very few answers provided for the many questions they raised.

Probably a relief for the writers...
whew!  had NO idea how we were gonna write our way out of all those corners...

...but a little disappointing for the viewers.
wait...they didn't kill Angelo, did they?

...and does Adele really end up with that stinkin' Marco??

5 years is a long time to be hanging on a cliff...

...with no relief in sight.

And speaking of 5 years ago...it was on this day...

...that Karen and I ventured to the Sparta airport and flew on a Ford Tri-Motor airplane...

...the fabulous tail dragger aircraft that started the commercial aviation industry back in the late 1920's.

And it was 3 years ago I got to fly right seat in another Ford Tri-Motor.
come fly the friendly skies

That was a pretty good day.

Sights seen 'round the Cafe...

it's been awhile, but they're baaaaack...

no squirrels were harmed in the taking of this picture...they were, however, amused by the futile efforts of Shaggy the cat...

this week's view from the command center...

...and my unexpected companion.

our "window frog" hunting his evening meal(s)...

from Larry's cottage...finally found that pot o' gold

don't know what it is, but it's ugly

And now, as Dale Evans used to musically opine...
