A Little Color...

...on the links today...and a gorgeous autumn morning.

Helped that I played pretty well...

...managed to par 2 of the first 3 holes, even if I needed a couple of 1 putt greens to do it.

Took me til 9 to get another par, but scattered 3 bogeys in there along the way.

The other 3 holes fall into the "I'd rather not talk about it" category, but even so I finished with the same ball I started.

Rounds like this almost  make me think - maybe - if I got serious  about this game...

...but then the obvious contradiction is contained in the premise, isn't it?

If I got "serious about a game"...hmm...

…may the good Lord in heaven protect me from myself.

As always, it was a little exercise, a little solitude and a delightful stroll through the countryside.

We've finally navigated our way to...

...so let the fun - and the countdown - begin.

As a kid this was, hands down, my favorite month...

...for obvious reasons.

Trick or treat was always a big deal of course, but besides that I loved the gorgeous autumn colors...

...and the smell of October campfires...the crisp fall weather...

...when I could still race around outside on those cold mornings and warm afternoons...

...and enjoy football games...

...and apple cider and pumpkin patches.

And did I mention trick or treat??

Back then it was a wonderful kickoff to the holiday season when we sprinted from Halloween...

...to Thanksgiving, and finally...

...to the magic of Christmas.

Now of course I'm not quite as excited about Nature closing up shop for another year...shorter days, longer nights, the onset of winter...don't have any immediate plans to build snowmen or make snow angels...

...but even with all that, I still truly enjoy October and all its autumnal delights.

Amen.

A quick glance at my handy dandy sundial watch...

...tells me it's time for a stroll through the parting shots department...come along now and don't dawdle...

spotted this guy in one of the Mars space alien plants that have taken over our lower patio garden...

a closer look...he's cute in an ugly sort of way

late bloomer

kinda like the new box

a relative hopped by for a quick visit

love the mirrored water look

our favorite hot dog vendor at the farmer's market

beautiful solar light pattern

that's Chip from up at Larry's cottage...he's going to have to fend for himself soon...

These are dark days, when morons who shouldn't be allowed to drive or handle sharp objects are actually in control of our country's destiny.

Devoid of wisdom...

...they can cause much damage along the way.

keep praying and hang in, mcm fans...
