I Done Dooded...

...the dirty deed...well, some of it anyway.

There's a new nativity scene coming this weekend, but at least Santa's up on the rooftop, click click click...boy, talk about your sacro-secular conflicts...

Theological issues aside, I made a pretty good run at the outdoor decorating, including in the courtyard...

...which admittedly will look better when it snows (can't believe I just wrote that).

one of those presents better have my name on it

And I even got my aluminum "window tree” up in the living room:

I admit it, I'm pretty proud of myself for stealing this idea.

Of course, what I did is nothing compared to all the Christmas carnage wrought when Hurricane Karen blew through the place…besides constructing her annual forest of Christmas trees...

that's "her" tree in the TV room...

...one in the corner by my "office"...

...another in our bedroom...

...and lights on "the little tree that could" in our backyard.

...she also splashed buckets of holiday cheer all around the house, including the nativity scene on the mantel, along with the fireplace decor:

There's more of course but we'll save that for future editions of this blog.

Stay tuned.

In the Can't Deny Reality department, I finally admitted defeat at the cold, compassionless hands of Mother Nature and closed up my backyard wiffle golf course this past week...

...took out the flags and covered the greens with tarps...very sad indeed.

I did however "walk 9" on my little course the day before when temps crept up into the mid 40's.

Did pretty well, too...just about bogey golf for the round.

Now next year, when I kill all the moles, put in 3 more greens, add some sand traps, improve the tees...

...hey, I can dream, can't I?

It's gonna be a tough winter.

And speaking of closing up shop, Larry's just about ready to do the same up north at his cottage, so it will be awhile before we're treated to any more scenes like this...

red sky at morning...

...but he did have a special visitor this week:

Yep, that's what you think it is...a bald eagle stopped by and spent some time looking regal and majestic.

Did a nice job, too.

Can you believe Benjamin Franklin thought turkeys were better than eagles?

He said unlike eagles, the turkey "...is a respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America...a Bird of Courage".

I'm sorry, but as you can see they don't even know the basics of putting etiquette:

uh, hello...one at a time...

Besides, eagles are Biblical...

So take that.

Might be time to see what's shakin' down at the...

first one opened in 1950

my aluminum "window tree” - suspended in mid-window - before decorating...

...and what it looks like from outside.

he's a braver soul than I

That's a wrap...

...on this week's edition of the AMC.

Our sincere thanks for stopping by and gawking at us in slack jawed wonder.

Now go on, git.

later, mcm fans...
