Autumn Began September 22nd...

...but it didn't actually arrive until this week.

It's here now for sure.

October tends to be the wettest month of year in Michigan, and the last few days bear that out.

Rain storm after rain storm and temps 10 degrees below normal have definitely changed the look and feel of our world.

Sadly, it's time to take down / put away all our summer decor...

...drain the pond...

...shut down the bubbling fountain...

...close up Ryan's Hickory Golf Course...

...and break out the leaf rakes...

...or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof.

Heavy sigh...

With the sudden transition from fall to FALL, I'm hopeful I haven't played my last round of golf this year.

In Michigan you never know...weather patterns and temperatures can be all over the place...

...but if I have, at least I went out with a couple of decent efforts earlier this week...played a little better than bogey golf, and ended up with the same ball I started for both 9's.

Embarrassing to admit, but those are the only times I've played this course without losing at least 1 ball.

I'd take a bow, but it's my clubs that are better, not me.

I did have to tweak my swing - hitting a hybrid is different than a regular iron - but bottom line: straighter, longer golf shots make a difference, and my hybrids made that happen.

Whooda thunk it?

Meanwhile, on Drummond Island...

...Larry and a few friends are enjoying some beautiful fall colors...

...some majestic views of the lake...

...some expensive food...

...some offroading in Jeeps...

...but hopefully, no whiplash.

All in a day's play.

As we expertly bring it in for a perfect 3 point landing...
