Goodbye October...

...well, almost...we've still got that All Hallows E'en thing to deal with... more to come on that.

In the meantime, it's definitely looking like the end of October 'round these parts.

As the Mamas and the Papas opined musically, all the leaves are brown...

...most of them, anyway.

Hate to say it...

...but November is right around the corner.

In the "hooda thunk it" department, someone in England recently read my novella...

...on the kindle unlimited program.

Apparently I earned 42 cents for that, and the kind hearted resident of Blighty was nice enough to leave a 5 star rating (but no written review).

Sadly, my brush with fame as a best selling author to the huddled masses yearning to breathe free was short lived, and my commission totals soon reverted to their usual status of $0.00.

But hey...they read it and liked it.

God save the King, y'all.

Golf continues to be a challenging activity for yours truly.

After my disastrous round with my hybrids, I spent some time with the master...

...and in a fit of nostalgic inspiration, gave my hickories another shot.

Sadly, no major breakthroughs on that front.

I definitely get more distance with my hybrids and it's easier to find the fairway due to their bigger sweet spot.

Even so, my best score of the season - a +5 for 9 holes - happened with my hickories, not my hybrids.

So I find myself on the horns of a dilemma...I appreciate the distance and accuracy of my hybrids, but I just like my vintage hickories better.

The solution may be to find a nearby course that's a bit more "hickories friendly"; i.e., one that doesn't have water and sand on every hole, since that is evidently above my pay grade.

In any event the season is winding down - most courses close in early November - so barring an Archimedes "Eureka!" moment...

...I'll have the long cold winter to brood about it.

My kingdom for some consistency...and talent.

A reminder that the mid term elections are coming up soon, so don't forget to vote your conscience.

If you don't have one, you can always vote democrat.

A quick ramble through the Parting Shots department...

That's going to do it for this edition of the AMC.
