If You Seek A Pleasant Peninsula...

...you're out of luck, buddy...this is Michigan on April 10th, and it's cold and snowy.  Still trying to remember why I live in this state.

Watched a pretty good flick this weekend...

Well acted, fast paced, interesting movie...recommended...especially liked Laurence Mason as Earl, Matthew McConaughey's driver...not a big part, but well done and a great screen presence.

Picked up that Philco console radio yesterday from Bob Chase in Lowell...

Bob did a great job of getting it back in shape and working again.

Trying to get a start on my 3rd Papa's Model T book...I've got some ideas, but they haven't come into clear enough focus yet...still kicking the details around.  Hope to get a serious start on it this week.

In the meantime I've republished three of my five books on CreateSpace.com...changed the font style to be darker and I hope more readable in the paperback versions..  Working on one of the last two today.

Is it really possible we've blown through another weekend?  Back into the salt mines tomorrow...

Later, mcm fans...

This...

...is not ok...snow on April 2nd?  Who authorized this?

a view of the backyard
Very disappointing...

So I bought a Philco Consolette radio...a 1937 model 620:

...but FedEx beat it up pretty badly in shipping...dropped it off at Bob Chase's vintage electronics repair yesterday...working through the claim process with FedEx...annoying.

On my way back from Bob's place I stopped by St. Patrick's church...it was snowing like crazy and this beautiful, old church looked wonderfully majestic in its pastoral setting:

Right next to it is the cemetery:

I guess with the passing of my brother Ken I've been contemplating the way of all flesh...

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key...Karen and I had planned to watch a movie in the theater room but that didn't work out...we did get out to an antique shop today but didn't see anything compelling.

And now we're staring into the gaping maw of yet another work week...o boy...

Last year at this time we were traveling down to New Orleans on the City of New Orleans train out of Chicago...that was a good trip over spring break.  Would be nice to be someplace warm instead of here...o well...
