Ryan's Memorial Stone...

...finally arrived...and I'm quite pleased with it.

They did a good job with both the text and his picture...

...and it's an appropriate way to honor his memory.

I like to spend a few quiet moments in the morning by his tree, thinking about his time on earth and giving thanks for his new life in heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Decent day on the links...

Managed 1 par and a few bogies, but didn't putt very well.

One of those bogies should definitely have been a par...

my 1 putt for birdie lie that turned into a bogey

...and I flubbed a couple of niblick shots around the greens as well.

my "chip in for par" lie that turned into a bogey

Even so I enjoyed the round.

Kept it in the fairways - well, mostly - and finished with the same ball, so really can't complain (too much).

2 putted for bogey on this one

Plus my one par was on the 9th hole...nice tee shot with my mashie left it 25 feet from the hole, then standard 2 putt for par...great way to finish my round.

In other hickory golf news...

...I have decided - with some regret - to moth ball my gutta perchas. *

They have a line cut cover...

...and were used from about 1850 through 1905 when golf was played mostly with woods.

From 1905 through 1930 the balls were about a 50 to 55 compression, and the covers were either mesh or small dimple...

...so you got more distance with them.

They were played in what's referred to as the "classic era" of hickory golf, when they used a couple of woods (brassie, spoon) but the rest of their clubs were irons (driving iron, mid iron, mashie, niblick, etc).

Bobby Jones

So I've been mixing eras, using a pre-1900 golf ball with my classic era clubs <insert shocked gasp here>.

Starting next week I'm going to sync up my equipment so both my clubs and the golf balls I use will be from the same hickory era.

I know this is both fascinating and a huge relief to about 1/2 of 1% of you who grace this blog with your presence, but hey...it could be worse.

I could regale you with tales of my belly button lint collection...

...so count your blessings.

naturally I reserve the right to change my mind and revert to gutta perchas

The clown in chief...

...held another presser on his debacle in Afghanistan, and he opened the carefully scripted Q&A session by saying, "I've been instructed to call on this reporter..."

Wow.

By whom was His Fraudulency "instructed"?

China?  The Taliban?  The voices in his head?

Remember the Trump years when the press resembled a crazed pack of howling, slavering jackals...

...who couldn't wait to tear into their prey with "when did you stop beating your wife?" gotcha questions?

They were salivating at the thought of the sound byte moment starring the wonder of them!  to be played later that night on their propaganda channels.

Well forget all that...those press corp jackals appear to have undergone voluntary lobotomies...

...sitting silently like obedient 3rd graders in Sunday school, waiting their turn to respectfully recite their assigned "questions" to the doddering fool in front of them.

"We've instructed him to call on you first," some lucky faux-journalist is informed.

"And remember:  speak slowly and clearly, then sit down and remain quiet.

"Who knows?

"He might even be able to read the answer from his cheat sheet correctly."

As events in Afghanistan have clearly demonstrated, Biden is unfit to lead a finger painting class, much less the most powerful nation on earth.

May God have mercy on our country.

Talking about politics always makes me want to take a shower, but before I do...

...let's see what's shaking in the parting shot department, shall we?

you know who you are

recently visited a bed and breakfast we used to patronize in days gone by...relaxing by their koi pond

queen of all she surveys

early morning relaxation station

I can relate

mr. groundhog scarfing bird seed

well would you look at that...we actually grew a cob of corn this year

2 birds with 1 stone

There are so many problems in the world it's easy to be overwhelmed, so I leave you this week with some encouragement from God's Word:

Keep the faith, mcm fans...

Another Round...

...when I didn't take pics...so once again I'm recycling old pics of me from previous rounds. *

Played pretty well today...snagged a couple of pars and several bogeys...

...but the rest shouldn't be discussed in polite company.

Luckily we're not in polite company, so here goes.

Had a cataclysmic break in communications between my brain and body on 6...

...when my brain said, "ok guys, this is what we're going to do," to which the various parts of my body replied, "oh yeah?  you're not the boss of us."

If I don't count the 2 different times I swung and completely missed the little white ball at my feet -

- I mean technically, since I never actually touched it, I could claim they were practice swings - then I carded a double bogey.

In spite of that mini-mutiny, we managed to reattach whatever wires had come loose and right the ship on the last three holes, going bogey, bogey, par.

Along the way Calamity Jane and I maintained a tenuous peace as I had two 1 putt greens (the two pars) and the rest were all 2 putts.

As hoped, it was a little exercise, a little solitude, and an enjoyable stroll through the beautiful countryside this morning.

it's possible some of those may not actually be me

Turning now to world events, China Joe continues to embarrass not just himself, but the United States of America, while putting thousands of lives at risk in the debacle of Afghanistan.

This is a man who doesn't know what day it is if his caretakers don't write it on his hand...

...which is obvious when you look deep into those vacant eyes.

The truth is JB owns the chaos in Afghanistan...

...because he withdrew the troops before we evacuated our citizens and civilian personnel.

Not only that, he gave the Taliban millions in abandoned weaponry, including Blackhawk helicopters, along with sensitive intelligence data on computer equipment.

His so-called press conference to address this international fiasco was little more than scripted political theater...

...run with all the efficiency of a 3rd grade play.

The hand picked media lap dogs obediently recited their "questions" while His Fraudulency followed along.

When their lips stopped moving that was his cue to read the bald faced lies from his cheat sheet (hint: it's the part that says "Now you, Joe.")

I don't usually spend too much time on politics in this blog, and I especially detest wasting space on a vacuous insect like JB.

However, this is one of those world history events that simply cannot be ignored.

JB is too far gone to realize it, but this masterpiece of incompetence will define his non-presidency.

One laughable example:

Biden's pick for ambassador to the U.N., Linda Thomas-Greenfield...

...reassured us that Americans currently trapped behind enemy lines would have safe passage to the Kabul airport because she has sent a "strongly worded memo" to the Taliban warning them not to interfere.

Well...problem solved!

I mean it's true, the Taliban are noted for decades of brutal treatment of women and children, not to mention their well-documented proclivity for beheading their enemies but now...now  we've got a strongly worded letter warning them not to do that naughty stuff.

Why didn't we think of that before?

Imagine all the time, money and effort that could have been saved if we'd only thought to send them a letter!

God bless this woman, a true hero for our time!

It's hard to believe these barely functional morons are leading our once proud nation.

Pray for the innocents in Afghanistan - not just the Americans left behind by China Joe and his worthless sycophants, but all the people in mortal danger from the Taliban.

In decidedly lighter fare, we've decided to revisit...

...the delightful Danish series made available to Amazon Prime by Walter Presents.

Amazon is supposed to pick up season 8 soon, but in the mean time we're reacquainting ourselves with the lovely hotel by the north sea...

...and all the interesting characters, including Fie, Fru Anderson, Morten, Hr. Weyse and the rest of the gang.

We're in the middle of season 3 at the moment, and are hoping by the time we get through 7 again they'll have made season 8 available.

In the parting shots department...

sorry for view through the screen, but I had to work fast...

...to get both of them before they left

I have no plans to try this

still waiting for Ryan's memorial stone, but the hibiscus and rose of sharon flowers just keep getting better

it was a good day to be Mr. Bee
