Moving Day...

...well, for Mr. T, anyway...that's Benjamin and me pulling out of the garage early this morning for our 25 mile trek out to Holland...
...and here we are chasing our shadows westward on Chicago Drive...a gorgeous day for kickin' it old school at 35 mph...
...on James Street in Holland a beautiful blonde in a pickup truck tried hitting on us...
...she kept tailing us, but we were on a mission and couldn't be deterred...
...here we are approaching our destination...
...motoring up the driveway...
...and finally, Mr. T safely parked in his new digs.

Now that was fun...

...unlike the rest of the weekend, which was just a lot of work...
Here we are U-haulin' a** on one of the 5 trips we made this weekend...that's Karen on the left...not sure who the old guy is on the right...looks like a loaner from Octogenerian Society.

Many thanks to #5 son Benjamin and grandson Marcellus for all their help this weekend...moved a ton of stuff and couldn't have done it without them...thank you, men!

Good progress is being made by #4 son who's tiling almost all of our new home...only Sarah's bedroom and Karen's walk in closet are being carpeted...everything else is being tiled.

Should be completely finished in a couple of days, just in time for move in on Wednesday and Thursday.

While digging a hole for our flagpole, I discovered we have sandy soil...one of the locals said, "yep, welcome to Holland...we don't have dirt, we have sand...that's why we grow moss instead of grass..."

I'm sure that's not true everywhere but our yard is definitely NOT lush green grass at this point...so on the way home we stopped by a home we'd heard about that specializes in southwest style landscaping:
He purposely has a hodge podge of all different kinds of southwest landscaping to show the possibilities...we definitely want some green grass, but we may pick a part of our lawn and do the southwest thing.

We're in the final sprint for the finish, and I am very ready to be done with this whole moving thing.

Problem is, once we're out of here, we still have another couple of months of steady work to get our new home truly livable.

We press on...but for now...

later, mcm fans...
